Hi, I'm Lauren, a senior full-stack engineer working in InsurTech, building software in a fast-paced, regulated industry that still leaves room for good design.
Most recently I've been helping architect a greenfield AI product on AWS, including Bedrock AgentCore, API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB and ALB, to name a few.
My background spans design and engineering, so I bring a user-focused mindset, with strong UX and accessibility instincts. I've worked remotely and hybrid for the last six years, and I like working closely with engineers, designers and product managers to turn messy problems into logical solutions.
Personal Projects

A privacy-first GERD and reflux symptom tracker, built with Expo and a local-only SQLite database. Currently in development, with the core architecture and Home screen built end-to-end.
Experience
Right now I'm a core engineer on the team building a greenfield AI Agent API from inception to Beta, giving insurers a way to handle customer-facing policy changes through an AI agent. We're running it on AWS: Bedrock AgentCore, API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB and ALB, with MCP servers as specialised tools. The product sits right at the edge of what AgentCore offers, so we've had some direct contact with AWS engineers when we've hit issues along the way. Alongside the build, I handle testing (TDD), documentation (Swagger/OpenAPI), infrastructure (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines.
I moved from Senior Frontend Developer to Lead in eight months, then gave technical leadership and mentorship to the Simply Be and Jacamo digital team. I focused on building responsive customer experiences with real attention to UX, WCAG accessibility and design-to-code fidelity, working closely with Product, Design and trading teams under tight deadlines.
Full-cycle web development and design, primarily for NBrown Group's brands, from inception through to the customer-facing pages and emails clients saw. I built a modular email code library that cut build times by 75%, which earned me SME status and saw it adopted as a mandatory part of the company-wide induction programme.
I learned the craft of building responsive emails that render properly across the maze of different mail clients. As I grew into the role, I mentored newer team members joining the team and helped train them up.
